Message In Stanza

Poetry and Musings

Privledged and loved
Well-educated
A kids TV commercial staring back at me
Telling me to buy McDonalds
Mass consumption at a new level

Nirvana’s angry antics
Telling me not to care
While Madonna is singing
Like a Virgin
This purity mixed with nihilism
Makes me cringe

The beginnings of mass convenience
Botox is the new microwave
Celebrity gossip traveled to you
Just listen to talk shows
A surreal reality that feels uncomfortable

We are the products of leisure
And self-destruction
Welcome to my generation
Generation Why is this happening

Yes, we are hipsters
Yes, we are self-reliant
But we aren’t blind
My generation
And we know who we are

Yes, we love vegan
Yes, we love pleasure
But we hate corruption
But we can hate ourselves
But we still know we are in there
Somewhere

    1. I am happy that you enjoyed it.😀
I think there is something wrong with my blog again. Did you receive my comment for your flash fiction post suggesting a sci-fi option? I am no hurry for a response. I just go back to other blogs and my comments have disappeared. 😕 Have you heard of such a thing happening before? I am calling WordPress this weekend.🙂

      1. So weird! No I did not receive anything from you on that post but I will go check my spam right now.

      2. It went to my spam box! So stupid! That is a great idea!

      3. I talked to WordPress support and there is basically nothing they can do. 😕I know other bloggers aren’t seeing my comments either. Should I get a new blog to fix the problem?

      4. That is so weird! I know that there are some blogs that tend to go through cycles. I wouldn’t start a whole new blog though. Perhaps add comments on other blog posts asking them to check their spam folders? Or perhaps even blog a post on checking the spam folders? Getting a new blog wouldn’t necessarily change anything if the problem is on WordPress’s end and you’ve put so much effort into your current blog.

      5. Good ideas, Kayla.😀 Please keep checking your spam folder for me. 🙂 Now my comments are going through and I am receiving comments. How strange! It is cyclical.
