CHAPTER 4: The Internal Vow
June arrived promptly at Catherine’s hospital and rushed like a bat out of hell to the front desk to ask for permission to go see Stacy. Meanwhile, in Stacy’s room June noticed Morgan slumped in her chair like a defeated solider in battle, her hands cupped over her face with tears streaming down.
“June, I am so sorry, Stacy didn’t make it.”
June felt like her brain was a balloon with no helium left and it just popped inside her head. She stood motionless. Her brain wasn’t processing that Stacy was reaching out to hug her. June just stood like a stoic ghost.
“I need a few moments to myself.”
June went into the hallway and just started balling when she knew she was safe enough alone to show her vulnerability. She never showed her vulnerability in front of others when she lost Helen. She was always taught, as her older sister, to keep it together and keep moving forward. And that’s exactly when she was going to do in this situation until… God once again showed up right in front of her.
A voice came forth tenderly but straightforward in an authoritative manner, “I am so sorry for your loss, June. But please hear me before you just walk off. This is important. I want to remind you again to pray to see your sister Helen tonight. She has a message for you. It will help you overcome all the loss that you have ever experienced in your life.”
June went to her knees, “I will, Father because I am literally on my last leg here.” Tears streamed faster now.
God smiled and then disappeared again.
June stood up and wiped her tears with her sleeve and made an internal vow that she would pray to see her sister that night. June then walked right into Morgan’s arms and shed tears like a baby.
Let me know what you think and stay tuned for more! 🙂
