Chapter 6: Heavenly Dreaming

June drove her car home with the fixed muffler. Man, that was expensive, she thought but as Jimmy flowed through her mind her look of concern turned into a smirk.

Before bed that night June prayed to hear from Helen and Stacy in her dreams, believing that God was going to answer her request, but unaware that He already had a plan to provide a prophetic warning for her.

As she drifted to sleep, she saw a beautiful meadow in the distance. Trees and flowers of every hue while hummingbirds bounced from petal to petal. And gorgeous dragonflies hummed about their business. June knew she was sleeping and temporarily visiting Heaven in her dreams, she couldn’t explain how.

Helen appeared in the distance, joyfully skipping towards her, she was the same age June remembered her to be. A wide-eyed smile spread across Helen’s face. They embraced like eternity stood still. When they separated Helen exclaimed with her hands extended upwards, fostering that innocence that June remembered so fondly,

“I am so happy to see you, dear sister!”

Helen did a cartwheel and put her hands into the air again. They embraced once more. Then when the memory of the accident crept through June’s mind, she quickly departed from Helen’s warm hug,

“Why did you have to leave life on Earth so early? I am so desperate to know!”

June cupped her hands to her face, hiding tears that were shedding quickly by now.

“It’s not something that I can explain now. I know it must be a terrible burden for you,” she said so tenderly like velvet words as she held June’s hands.

June noticed her sister speak with such eloquence and poise for a 5 year old. Must be heaven culture, June thought to herself.

Enlighted by Helen’s maturity, June found herself, ok with not having the answer to her question. “Do you ever age in Heaven?” June asked Helen.

“Of course. I am actually 20 years old now. I am just visiting you the way that you remembered me, dear June.”

They chuckled together. June touched Helen’s face, “I never forget you, dear Helen.”

They chuckled again at the thought of each other exchanging, “dear” before their names. Joy and laughter must be magnified in Heaven, June thought.

“Yes, it does increase, my DEAR June.” They laughed once more.

June never laughed this much while on Earth.

“Wait, you can hear my thoughts?”

“Yes, as strange as it sounds, we can hear people’s thoughts in Heaven. It’s a part of a beautiful and whole place without sin. Hearing thoughts makes communication a lot easier too.”

“That’s wonderful,” June smiled.

A sullen look appeared on Helen’s face.

“While I wish we could laugh more, God has sent me here to tell her that He loves you deeply and he has called you to have a higher purpose in life but you must first forgive God for taking me so early and for taking your dear friend Stacy or you will never move higher in life. This is a prophetic warning God has shown me for the future. You were brought here to forgive God for allowing Him to take me and Stacy so early.”

June stood there motionless, listening intently but not expecting this warning.

Another smiled reappeared on Helen’s face.

“God has called you to do some amazing things like being a missionary and journaling your time there but the more you hold on to unforgiveness, the more you are further away from your destiny. You have seen me and know I am safe, well, happy, and healthy. Can you forgive the Lord, dear June?”

As June was about to answer… her alarm clock buzzed.

Let me know what you think and stay tuned for more! 🙂
