Poetry and Musings

anewmorning

Feeling inspired

Got enough rest

So no longer tired

Had no caffeine

Not wired

Just feeling stirred inside

Trying to have my soul open wide

Take the flowers in your spirit

The fragrance of purity and peace

The world may steal your joy

But you know better

Don’t give up or give in

Just enjoy what you have

Blow with the wind

You have to jam within

You only have one life to make a difference

You have to avoid the resistance

That is so persistent

While I have been on vacation in Vermont my Aunt Linda decided to cook homemade biscottis with me. It was a lot of fun!

I am not much of a baker but I did pretty good. Aunt Linda is a great baker. So I learned from the best: the biscotti queen.

I didn’t think I liked biscotti until I tried her biscottis. Biscotti typically don’t have any fruit and are really dry. We made creative ones.

We made a heath, chocolate chip and apricot one. Also a coconut, mango, apricot and  pineapple one. And a chocolate apricot and date one.

They were delicious! What else can I say, except it’s time to hit up the gym again!

Do you like baking? Do you like biscottis?

Creativity beckons us to answer the call of our soul. There is a heart on door in the sky. We have to open the door to affection and enlightenment. And when you open the door you will find more hearts or a more expansive colorful skies. Creativity never ceases.

Walk with your head held high. You will unlock these doors with your mind. It isn’t mind control but action with precise precision, wit, and self-control.

By unlocking these doors you unlock the door to your destiny. Your destiny yields to your actions. And a heart of surrender and a honest mind. Now take the steps to open the door… the door of your soul.

When you are treading in deep water

Remember God is such a loving Father

It may be difficult at times

Searching for a butterfly amidst all these moths

Or trying to teach beauty to Goths

There may be a needle in a haystack

But how about finding the pearls in the surplus oysters?

Don’t forget to embrace your enemies in the pitch black

You should keep your enemies closer

Because one day you will sit at a table in their presence

God wanted a family, so He created you

To fill that God-shaped hole in Him

Angel messengers were created for God too

Also Mother nature beckons for our cooperation

But don’t forget, God is such a loving Father

space

I stare from the one of Jupiter’s moons

And look on to the planet

And think about how hot it may be

I am alone in space

But I am not

I have a couple things that nothing can compare to

Two little things called discovery and inspiration

It is the little things that matter, right?

It is the little things that spark your day

And it is those little things that light up dark outer space

It just tugs at my heart. We keep building and building. We may rather watch a youtube video about the rainforest than visit in in person. And now there is Amazon for groceries instead of the grocery store. We do walk but complain about the heat or rain. We want to be comfortable instead of invigorated.

Not to mention, due to human civilization lands are fragmented and animals displaced are from their own habitat. I hear elephants are becoming more and more scarce. What if the future generations only know an elephant by the TV screen or a book they read?  We seem so removed from nature at times.

This  reminds me of the Joni Mitchell song, “Big Yellow Taxi” where it says, “Don’t it always seem to go/That you don’t know what you’ve got/’Till it’s gone/They paved paradise/Put up a parking lot.”

Joni speaks very intelligently and says what are the quiet masses are really feeling too. But I don’t think the answer to all of our problems is as simple as getting rid of parking lots. The population is too dense for that to be a rational solution. But you may say, what about more birth control? They may help in the short term, but the population will still continue to grow as each family typically has at least two children.

And I believe God wants us to grow and thrive. And we must continue to increase because He wants a bigger family! 🙂 But we can choose how we respond to nature and consumerism, which I find is a huge culprit to being removed from nature. If we aren’t connected to our possessions a lot, maybe we could be more possessed by nature? I am not saying we should live without possessions as John Lennon aptly said in the song, “Imagine,” “Imagine no possessions/I wonder if you can/No need for greed or hunger.” Appropriate of an ideal world to create world peace but not realistic.

I am just suggesting maybe we could make more sacrifices. Possibly rest more on Sundays and maybe over time, more businesses will change their hours of operation and, except for emergency facilities like hospitals and police departments can be open on Sundays. My mom told me back in the day most places weren’t open for business on Sundays. We just could use more rest. Not just physical rest but also mental rest.

We could also walk more outside than go on a treadmill. These are all just ideas.

We have all heard this before and I am not trying to come across too cliché but the solution is in your hands. Nature is waiting for you. 🙂

Honest question: Do you feel removed from nature sometimes?

I am chilling in Vermont. 😀 I come to this rural part of the country a couple times a year for a week or so with my parents.

Yes, you may be wondering if I LIKE spending that much time with my parents as a grown adult. To concisely put it: I do. 😀 It’s a breath of fresh air to be close to nature (pun intended).

I live in Houston, Texas, a sprawling flat-land city with 6 lanes going in out of the city on both sides. I enjoy the hustle and bustle, but sometimes I enjoy the rustic life with hiking in cooler weather (it’s 100 degrees or more in a Houston in August now) and without the constant reminder of air pollution and busy cars traveling. But I love the busyness and blooming businesses of Houston. And I am happy to have the best of both worlds.

I went to a Farmer’s Market last Sunday in Stowe, Vermont. Stowe is an small town of less than 5,000 people. They have music playing a lot of the time at the Farmer’s Market, predominantly blues. They have booths set up with food, clothing, jewelry, etc. But the main attraction is their fresh produce of tomoates, cucumbers, apples, berries, etc. It’s from the very heart of the locals from their farm in Stowe or a surrounding Vermont town straight to the market to your kitchen. The locals are very friendly and informative about their products.

Have you been to a Farmer’s Market before?

Don’t apologize for being different; but don’t accept that compliment either: the world needs more people like you. The world needs more individuals, yes, individuals who are different yet collective; people who think differently and who teach differently so the minds of the young are diverse. Diversity is not a threat, it is art; it is not […]
