Message In Stanza

Poetry and Musings

I had the glass completely full

But it had a crack in it

So water spilt out

Now you see how I view life

I had pasteurized liquid in a cartoon

But it spilt over

So my eyes are gaining moisture

I am pessimistic and an emotional wreck

Learning how to plow a field in the digital age

What am I really going to learn?

Except that I am like a cactus in Colorado

Traffic is moving

But there are tons of cars in front

I got your message

But I am too apathetic to respond back

I have a Valentine’s heart in my chest

But it’s too flat to pump blood

I sometimes have a Newton brain

But sometimes it’s too eccentric to maintain order

I am so alone…

  1. Following other writers on here, reading their poetry, their stories, their triumphs, their failures, help me to not feel alone in this writing world

    1. Thank you, Kaylannauthor for the encouraging words. 🙂 I agree, there are a lot of supportive writers and poets online (like here) and others you meet in person. 🙂But missing an opportunity to connect with many like-minded Christians in real life can make one feel lonely as well. I am in the process of looking for another church. But He is looking out for me. 🙂

      1. If you’re looking for a church, can I make a suggestion? Sandals Church has various locations in the U.S. (although most are in CA), and you can even watch online while you’re searching for something closer to you

I love watching online, Pastor Matt hits it right on the head every time and he’s funny!

      2. Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll be sure to check it out. 🙂

    2. How has writing itself helped you overcome loneliness as well? Journaling is so therapeutic for me. I could spend a lot of time jotting down my thoughts at my local coffee house. 🙂

      1. Journaling for sure helps me get my words out. I find that writing, and becoming active in a writing community in particular, helps overcome loneliness and also motivates me to work harder

      2. That’s right. A writing community of any sort is important. I am doing a WordPress event in a couple of days through Meetup in my town called, “Going from a book to a blog.” It sounds interesting. Hopefully, they will have
some networking as well. Then I am doing a poetry open mic night at a local Irish pub soon. Looking forward to it. 🙂

      3. That does sound super interesting! How does it work?
That sounds amazing! I’m sure you’ll do splendidly!

      4. Thank you so much, Kayla. 🙂 I don’t know too much about it but I am assuming it’s about how to repurpose your writing content from a blog to a book. There will be a publisher there as well. So I am not sure what to expect. But wish
        me luck. 🙂

  4. Putting pen on paper has helped me a great deal. I think writing helps us to re-align our thought processes. Writing is not for professional writers only. It can be beneficial for all of us, because it can potentially be therapeutic. One of the most powerful parts of therapy is cultivating the ability to observe our thoughts and feelings, and that’s what writing helps us do. I enjoyed reading your poetry.

    1. Thank you so much! You are right, Gbolabo. 🙂 I try to write the way that I see the world. It benefits me as well as the people around me. And I am very happy that you enjoy reading my poetry and it sounds like I inspired you. Have a good day. 🙂

  5. Of course I can relate. I’ve had those days. I’ve had ALL of that in one day hahaha :):):) But we just have to keep on moving forward, trusting that God has a plan for us, spilt milk, tears, cracked glass, and all :):) Wonderful piece Carly 🙂

    1. Thank you, Margaret! 🙂 “Spilt milk, tears, cracked glass, and all.” I love that imagery, Margaret. Life does have its hurdles, doesn’t it? But God can comfort us in our tears. David cried out many times to God and He heard Him. 🙂 I am happy that you enjoyed it. 🙂
