Summer dresses weave their way through summer
Iced teas are dripping on the sides from heat
Many people take trips to the sandy beaches
Excited kids out are of school
Pestering their parents
Many parents wish school started back in July
These summers breeze through fast
As fast as trees lose their leaves in autumn
Nothing compares to the warmth of summer family days
Or carefree summer days with friends
Oh, how the sun shines on these radiant days
Wishing every day was summer is silly
It’s like hoping the earth never tilts
My hemisphere always faces towards the sun
As soon as autumn comes, I put my sandals away
And get ready for hibernation; waiting another year

Beautiful poetic splendour of summer and for sure ice tea melts like hot flames. Lovely poem, Carly.
