I know life is burdensome at times. But why do the dominoes all fall down when you just touch one? Why do the laws of physics function like that?
Let me give some examples. You try to connect with a body of believers and they are supposed to be the most loving, forgiving and patient and sometimes they can be quite the opposite. You may ask the leadership team some questions and instead of answering your vulnerable questions openly they get defensive. And they think you aren’t going along with their program and you feel separated from a once comfortable spiritual environment.
Or one of your family members is sick and bedridden at a hospital and they don’t have many people to console in, so you give them loving support. But you are struggling at work because you are taking too much time off to help them out. And some of your friends are like, “Why go through all this trouble to help them out? You look stressed. You need a break. Can’t someone else help out?” What sounds like caring advice comes across as apathy. You know all the sick family member has is you. So you’ll put their needs above yours.
The dominoes are falling down, one by one. What are you are going to do about it?
I know all the metaphors of pain and breakthrough. The night changing to the day. The climax and resolution in a story. But does that ease your heart and mind?
I am not trying to sound depressed but simply ask an honest question. Why do all the dominoes have to fall down at once?

It could sound a little trite if I was to say God works in mysterious ways. But, as you know, when you’re on His path he challenges us every day. It will get better. Maybe you need to find a church that’s more in line with your needs. God’s not very direct with us sometimes. I think he likes to poke us a bit, just a gentle nudge to motivate us. π

Wow, I’m sorry you were treated that way and that you are having to go through what you are going through. It’s shocking that you were treated that way.
You didn’t say this specifically, but I know how hard it is to watch when a loved one is bedridden. It’s hard and exhausting, not just physically but mentally. My grandpa and grandma were, and it’s painful remembering how they used to be and what it came to.
I have no idea why dominoes fall as they do, but I completely understand what you mean. All I know is during times like this, there is One Who understands and won’t treat you with apathy. Have you read the story of Job? I admit that I haven’t read the whole book yet, but that guy had a whole line of dominoes too. And God was always there for him as they fell. π
