Message In Stanza

Poetry and Musings

Beautiful dance
Was this love up to chance?
With each step
We learn more

Amidst the peace or war
We keep dancing
I love you
With each secret I kept

I feel your gaze
And I am amazed
I have known you for so long
We can trust holding each other close

I follow your toes
As bombs are going off
We move with such speed and grace
Even in the Good War, we belong

I am doing an open mic night here in my town and I wanted to get feedback from my followers.  Is there a particular poem (pretending you were there) that you would like to see me read? If I get a lot of votes for a particular poem I will consider reading it. I will be reading three at the open mic.

These are in the running:

I know this is a lot, but do you remember a certain poem standing out to you from before? Let me know. Thanks.

The hands clasped

What haven’t you grasped?

Today, if you hear His voice

Do not hardened your hearts

With your cap in hand

Where does your mind stand?

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence

So the Holy Spirit can take up residence

I jump rope with a small rope as adult

And I do the hurdle jump with sandals

It’s like riding a bike without handles

It’s time to put my fears behind me

But I am scared of the unknown that goes into infinity

I still have my braces

And I won’t have room for dentures

Because the inner child left behind her adventures

As a child the more you try to be an adult

You’ll be one to a fault

Preschoolers play on those swings

And 2nd graders play the tether ball

Take your curiosities close once and for all

P.S. This poem features three lines from Hebrews 4. Lines 3, 4, and 7.

My antenna is up
I am ready to receive
Do you hear me, Creator?

Nightly media is stealing our thunder
Eyes are glued to large rectangles with blinking fairy dust
But this isn’t a dreamy landscape
We are on someone else’s  broadcast

They go to and fro
With pressing stories
But I am hiding beneath my bed
With blindfolds and earplugs
See and hear no evil
It doesn’t seem to be working

I am swimming in friction
A part of me likes the drama
A part of me wants to be informed
But I decide to turn the receiver off

Ignorance is bliss
Because the world may be in a desert storm
But I found some shelter in my own oblivion

Finally no more internal division
I have turned to a good book
A book of a whole new world

I earnestly suspire for the daybreak
The wavelengths are a Latin rhythmic dance Latin dance spanning the sky
Clouds promenading around but there is still cohesiveness and flair

Below is a magnitude of delight mingled with darkness
The black cloak of the magician
Is entertaining with the black arts again and taking over the night
Even good natured Tolkien is taking off guard

This fairyland turned sour
As soon as clinics opened in the poor side of town
Giving striving females a forlorn way out
Leaving them disparaged

This dreamscape land turned upside down
As soon as BPA and APM (aspartame) became an everyday substance UC all the time
These chemical compounds ruling over our bodily and societal systems

Corruption is real, my friend
But is this daybreak our last hope?
Or is this tide turning around for the better?

Because this evil magic and chemical love is bringing death to our dreams of innocence and authenticity

Oh Lord, bring the daybreak again
The hope of your risen One
Rise like the Son again
Yahweh, when we allow You to cross our paths
That’s when the virtue and honor of your creation is restored

Father

I am your daughter

I beseech You, Lord

When will Your new Kingdom…

Begin?

Father

Give me Your living water

I beseech You, Lord

When will fire come to the Earth…

Resulting in a new birth?

God

The world’s drama can be so odd

I beseech You, Lord

Most I can’t control

But it invades my soul

God

May You be my staff and rod

I beseech You, Lord

This life is a narrative

Show me how to live

News media showing happiness is in sight

1st world problems of pressure of success

Equivalent to hamster in a wheel getting no rest

No wonder we can’t sleep at night

We will never measure up, believe me

Politicians, teachers, allies don’t deceive me

But I will tell you what really grieves me

These lies that my self love never frees me

Love your church

Honor every doctor and nurse

Give to charities

But donations to self is in scarcity

Society is a corrupt force

Making your delusions worse

We’re told to love ourselves is a crime

It’s arrogant and vain like grime

Jury duty, taxes, pay rent, so many demands

Colleagues, parents, siblings, so many shaking hands

But when you turn over on your side at night

Do you ever make it right?

Sleeplful nights

Dreamer’s delight

The stars only come out when the eyes close

Running in lush meadows

Flowers amongst rabbits and does

As the spring river flows

Don’t want to wake up today

These dreams are where my hopes stay

But I must wake up

There are errands to run

Lives to make happy in the sun

Today, I’ll enjoy this blessed cup
