Poetry and Musings

Here is a tanka I wrote. A tanka is a Japanese poetic form. It consist of 5 lines the first and the 3rd line have 5 syllables and the other lines have 7 syllables.

God bring the glory

Open up the heavens with power

You’re the glory cloud

That the Israelites followed

Reign that majesty in hearts again

Flowers are ingenious beauties

Fragrance like heavenly air

Texture like the softest cotton

What if they could talk?

What would they say?

Would they cry out in despair?

Say they feel forgotten?

God birthed them into existence

He said to the ground produce vegetation

He blessed these seed-bearing plants

What would God have to say?

If He was right in front of you?

These flowers are dying from stagnation

And dying from chemicals like that of fire ants

Thousand of flowers burning in the rain forest

Vexation makes us do silly things

Land and profit is more vital than common sense

But flowers provide beauty, love and life

But is it too late?

Truth stings

So now is not the time to be on the fence

We need freedom

Like a horse roaming free

Nobody wants to be chained

Or falsely blamed

Sometimes the freedom comes later on

Jesus wasn’t free at Calvary

But victory was on the horizon

What a sacrificial Son!

It takes some time

What else can I say?

The birthing pains

Of learning to walk without canes

Scripture can help

Keep you on the right path

And prayer can steady those feet

Without delay, you wouldn’t conquer defeat

Here is a poem I wrote called, “My Quill,” with the beautiful backdrop of the waterfront of Burlington, Vermont. I did a spoken version of it on my YouTube channel called, Carly’s Niche. I hope you enjoy and feel free to subscribe for more videos! I try to post a video every week to two weeks. 🙂

Here is the poem:

MY QUILL

Many words inspire the page
As the quill sets the stage
I could use any writing tool
Don’t mistake me for being uncool

I know it’s the 21st century
But I love to write as you can see
I know I could use my iPad to type
But I won’t when the passion’s ripe

My quill, my quill, my quill
I can write at will
Carefully crafting my words
Like a guitarist makes his chords

bowling pins

Our energies have to be kinetic
Potential energy isn’t enough
When we move forward towards love
We become magnetic

The sparks start to fly
The circuit turns on
The moving energy flows
The pendulum rotates nigh

Love can explain science
And science can explain love
But they can’t live apart
They would create a world of silence

Babies being born
Is such a verb
Love is a verb too
Love and science takes form

Because science is action
Science defines our world
Through theories and studies
But it’s still the law of attraction

Phone in hand

Eyes closed

Wrecked car

Shut down roads

Do we think

Before we speak?

Do we think

Before we act?

Crushed bones

Cut lip

This car

Was sinking ship

As soon as

She bent her neck

And maneuvered

Her fingers

Multiple streets

Of opportunity

And devastation

Can’t you see

We are one step away

From night stays

By a breathing machine

Or an early grave
