Questions:

  1. What’s your favourite fall outfit?

carly awesome fall

2. What is fall weather like where you live?

I live in Houston, TX where there really isn’t any “fall” weather that you are used to. The leaves never change. It gets cooler but rarely drops below 50 degrees. lol. But it’s still nice to walk around stuff. 🙂 Fall is my favorite season because Texas gets so humid during the summer.

3. Your favorite drink to have in the fall?

Iced lattes, baby! Wait, I drink that all year long. lol. 🙂

4. Does your family have any fall traditions? If so, what are they?

Not really a tradition, but sometimes my parents and I go to Vermont for the leaves changing. Then we go to a enjoy corn maze. A corn maze is a corn field made into a maze. It’s a great tourist attraction.

5. What are some activities and events you enjoy going to in the fall months?

I don’t crave pumpkins or dressed up for Halloween anymore for parties, so I don’t know. I guess the corn maze applies here too. lol. 🙂

6. What’s your favorite fall-scented candle?

orange candle

7. Tell us about one of your favorite fall memories.

Being in Vermont, driving around, watching the scenic views! 🙂 It just takes your breath away!

8. What are some fall movies you enjoy watching?

I really enjoy Good Will Hunting. It always made want to go to Boston in the fall around those older buildings and historic sites. I haven’t been to Boston in a while.

I guess I could get my Dunkin’ Donuts iced coffee and take a stroll through the city. Boston did good job inventing Dunkin” Donuts! 🙂 That sounds like fall to me!

9. What’s your favorite fall treat?

Pumpkin pie!

10. If you celebrate Halloween, what is the best costume you’ve worn?

I haven’t dressed up that many times and I haven’t ever been real impressed with my costumes. I have been a rock star, Little Red Riding Hood and evil people.

I can’t remember who was when I was evil. lol. I enjoyed trick or treating so much as kid because I got to know my neighbors more and meet new friends… and of course, my addiction to  chocolate. Good times. 🙂

And anyone else who like to partake! 🙂 Happy fall, everyone! 🙂

I stand on top of the mountain
And I feel just like an Indian a long time ago
With their spear and their arrow
Trying to kill a buffalo
To use its hide for my shelter and family
But oh no…
I really got my rifle
Trying to find a deer
So I can put it on my wall!

You know, freedom doesn’t exist
Not for these little animals
Because we got everything we want, we got in our fists

You caught the shark in the net
Just take it’s fin
Don’t worry, you don’t have to regret

Give the little calf another pill
Get it ready for the common drill
To settle the supply and demand
So we can get our fill!
And to get another tender steak to eat with our hands

You know, freedom doesn’t exist…

Love has a plan
For every one of us
So don’t fuss

People come and go
But when you are feeling low
Stoop down towards love
Love is everywhere
Even in the darkest valleys below

When you don’t know what to say in a social atmosphere
And your palms get wet
Don’t hold to past regret

Love has a plan
As you reflect how the day began
Rise high towards love
Love is everywhere
And in every single heart beat that wants to expand

When your shortcomings are revealed
And you are filled with a lot of doubt
And the roots of your labor doesn’t sprout

Love has a plan
You aren’t less than
Your fragile and honest portrait of life
The universe sends forth its love
It’s the crack in the frame that makes the man

The Bible says to “Pray without ceasing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). I believe praying helps someone renew their minds. Anything can come into our minds and sabotage our day. It comes into the dark recess of our brains and knocks on the door and nine times out ten, how many times do we answer? I would say we do more often than not.

It is like a scavenger on the hunt for a buried treasure. They look everywhere for that treasure but it could be right in front of them laying in the sand. But either we do not see it or pick it up. Our thoughts control our actions. It’s scientifically proven. We can think we do not deserve love, goodness, mercy, or grace because of our past mistakes and shortcomings. But we deserve that “buried treasure,” if you will.

We all have a past and even Jesus dined with sinners (Matthew 9:10). Only a lovingly God would have it so! Only the Father of Heaven and Earth would make a make a way for His only son to save His children from the pit of death, as well as something as simple as knowing personal forgiveness can renew our minds daily.

His forgiveness is not just for you but also for your scorn enemy. Only God would have it so. Your “buried treasure” is found in God. But this does not imply trying to please others, but by giving your burdens of hatred and jealousy to the Lord. Only He can walk alongside you on your journey with your treasure map on the road to freedom and forgiveness.
Not only can prayer change our mindsets but give us hope when we didn’t have hope before. Anyone can develop child-like faith and hope again. Essentially, when are mindsets change we no longer believe the “lies” of the enemy and see the truth God has graciously supplied to us. When we finally come to terms and accept the truth of God’s word as bread for your life, you will have a hope you never experienced before. And all of this starts with prayer. We do not pray to get “brownie points” with God but rather commune with God, our Father. That is why it says to pray “Our Father” in the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9) NIV. When you fully grasp in your spirit that worth comes from Papa alone.

It’s time to run to His arms again. He saw you learn to walk and talk and now He is ready to take you to the next level of faith with Him.

Are you ready?

This is the flip
This is what it means to be hip
This is the skip

You fantasize the sky in a different way while being buoyant
I don’t need a skateboard
I need a soul
I will go higher with more tactics
I just to need to concentrate on my acrobatics

It’s the flip in the air
What do you care?

I am kicking it old school with I poem I wrote back in 2006. 🙂 Any thoughts on one of earlier poems? Any improvements?

Life’s ups and downs

Can make you feel sick

Like a roller coaster ride

You question where does your love confide?

You travel some many places in your brain

Your heart has been through a blender

Do I hold on to what’s already gone?

Or let go and surrender?

See, in this life the choice is yours

Everything is a choice

From dusk to dawn

Is your light within turned on?

Does your light within really shine?

Shine like a welcoming revelation?

Beckoning with perspective

Leaving you with clear hope, no hesitation

For if all these things really ring true

Destiny’s knockin’ on your door

It’s time to let go

Sometimes when I am in prayer

I feel like no one’s there

I am talking to the ceiling

Sometimes I am lost in a deep spiritual feeling

I sense a powerful presence of some sort

I stop focusing on my personal hurt

I start to pray for others

And nations filled with sisters and brothers

I am not saying I am always selfless

I can be pretty selfish at times, I confess

But I believe it’s important to take time away from self

To pray for others who need help

Because destiny’s knockin’ on your door

It’s time to let go

Some people can calmly play competitive sports like chess or billboards. They just precisely determine their move for their pawns and diligently think 4 steps ahead. I am that way with basketball when I played as a kid.

I was an average shooter. But my biggest strength was getting rebounds. They used to call me, “The rebounder queen.” I was a skinny young lady in grade school and taller than my peers. Not only was my height an advantage but so was my fierce determination and boldness. Once that ball banked off the backboard I was full throttle after that shiny orange sphere.

But my weakness was dribbling. My fine motor skills haven’t ever been good but oh, how I have tried! So when that ball bounced off and when I caught it, it was like a hot potato. Once I got it, it needed to be passed to a fellow team mate. Being a rebounder who doesn’t dribble well, you definitely learn the names of your team mates well.

But my main point is, why can’t I be cool as a cucumber playing sports but I can’t watch sports with the same calmness and focus? I am not even the one playing! Lol! I get anxious and antsy, esp. with baseball. I like the fast-pace action of basketball. I feel like in baseball you have to wait longer for the team you want to win to have a chance to get points because of the innings. In basketball it’s a constant dance between the two teams scoring.

I am from Houston, TX and watching the Houston Astros play has been a complete whirlwind of mixed emotions. After the devastating Hurricane Harvey we need some good news hopefully, we will not strike out on our hopes and dreams (pun intended) for our beautiful but fragile city now. We are still getting support from FEMA, some people are still removing mold from their homes, waiting to back to their homes or getting assistance from the Food Bank or surrounding pantries. So a winning the World Series would really reawakened the city.

But what hit home for me (pun intended) when Astros won 2 in a row and then the Yankees won 3 in a row.  Man, the intensity of the emotions.

For instance, in one of the games Astros with 2 wins under their belt, were leading 4-0 and the Yankees brought out the full stops at the last innings and ended up winning 4-6. Geesh.

Now with the Astros and Yankees tied with 3 games wins both under their belts we are in for the ultimate showdown night. The winner of that game will win the reward of a World Series event. This will be the first time for the Astros to make it to the World Series. 🙂

I love the Astros but now is the time to put things in full swing (pun intended). Even if they win it for Houston. Do it also to give hope back to world. We all were impacted by Hurricane Harvey, even if realize it or not. We maybe were watching the disaster on a small dusty TV in a college dorm in Boston or a father of two watching on in his IPad in Connecticut. But I believe, as disaster strikes it hits home with us all as a human race.

But I think I made my point pretty clearly at this point now: Go Astros! Let’s make into the World Series and win for the first time! 🙂
